Terms of use
Version 2 · In effect November 1, 2026
The short version.
- ALDAS is in early access. Use it to measure and quote, but check your numbers before you order or sign anything, because you're the professional on the job.
- Your work and your customers' information stay yours. We look after them for you and don't use them for anything else.
- It's free during early access. You won't be charged until you've seen a price and agreed to it.
- You can leave anytime and take your work with you.
Who these terms are with
These terms are a contract between you and Upgraid Business Solutions, a sole proprietorship in Kelowna, British Columbia that makes ALDAS ("we", "us"). They cover the ALDAS app and the aldas.ca website. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
You accept these terms when you first sign in to ALDAS. If you use ALDAS for a business, you confirm you're allowed to accept them for that business, and "you" includes it. You need to be the age of majority where you live, and ALDAS is meant for business use.
Early access
ALDAS is still being built. Features may change or be removed, some things may not work perfectly, and we may need to pause the service for updates. We may also end early access, with notice where we can. During early access we don't promise any particular uptime or support response time, though we do our best to keep your saved work safe. Keep your own copies of anything important by using Jobs › Back up all jobs and prices from time to time.
Check the numbers
ALDAS helps you measure and quote, but it doesn't replace your judgment. It works out areas, quantities, seams, waste and prices from the plans, scale, measurements and prices you give it, so the results are only as good as those inputs. Plans aren't always drawn to scale, a scale can be set wrong, and one typo in your price list carries into every quote.
Before you order material, give a price or start work, check the measurements, quantities, layouts and totals yourself, and follow the manufacturer's instructions and the building codes that apply. You're responsible for your quotes, orders, installations, and the prices and taxes you charge. ALDAS isn't engineering, legal, tax or accounting advice.
Your account
- Accounts are for one person each. Don't share your sign-in.
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us a real email address so we can reach you about your account.
- Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone else has got in.
Your work is yours
The jobs, plans, prices, logos, customer information and other content you put into ALDAS belong to you. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display that content only as needed to run ALDAS for you, including through our service providers and backups, and to fix problems or keep the service secure. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backup copies that clear on their normal schedule.
You're responsible for having the right to upload the plans and information you use. You can download your jobs, plan pictures and price list anytime with Jobs › Back up all jobs and prices.
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve ALDAS without owing you anything for them.
How we handle your customers' information
For personal information about your customers and other people that you put into ALDAS, you're in control and we act on your behalf. We will:
- use it only to provide ALDAS to you and as you direct;
- keep it confidential, and limit access to what's needed to run and support the service;
- protect it with reasonable security;
- only use service providers who are bound to protect it. They're listed in our Privacy policy, and we'll tell you before we add a new one;
- tell you without delay if we learn of a breach affecting it, and help you deal with it;
- help you answer your customers' requests to see or correct their information;
- delete it when your account closes, with any backup copies cleared within 30 days of the deletion; and
- answer your reasonable questions about how we protect it.
You're responsible for having the right to collect your customers' information and share it with us, and for meeting your own privacy duties to them.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- break the law with ALDAS, or use it to harm anyone;
- put in sensitive information ALDAS doesn't need, like health details, Social Insurance Numbers or payment card numbers;
- upload content you don't have the right to use;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or test, overload or attack the service;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app, or use it to build a competing product;
- use ALDAS or its results to train AI models, or use automated tools to scrape the app or abuse the assistant.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to save your work. We may suspend right away, without notice, if we need to in order to protect the service, other users or the law.
Prices and payment
ALDAS is free during early access unless we tell you otherwise. When paid plans start, we'll show you the price, billing period and what's included before you subscribe, and nothing is charged until you agree. Prices will be in Canadian dollars, plus any taxes that apply. Subscriptions will renew until you cancel, you'll be able to cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and we'll give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change. We plan to offer early users a founder price, and we'll explain the details before paid plans start.
The assistant
The built-in assistant uses AI from a third-party provider to answer questions about using ALDAS. It can be wrong or out of date, so check anything that matters before you rely on it. It isn't professional advice. Please don't put customer names or contact details in your questions.
Our software
ALDAS, its design and its code belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you the right to use ALDAS for your business while your account is open. They don't give you any other rights to it.
No guarantees
ALDAS is provided "as is" and "as available." Apart from what these terms say, and as far as the law allows, we make no promises about ALDAS and exclude all implied warranties and conditions, including merchantable quality, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that ALDAS will be error-free or always available, or that its results will be accurate.
Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows:
- we aren't responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, jobs, goodwill or data, or the cost of material ordered or work done based on ALDAS's figures, even if we knew they were possible; and
- our total responsibility for all claims about ALDAS is limited to the greater of what you paid us for ALDAS in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100 CAD.
These limits apply to every kind of claim, including in contract and negligence. They don't apply to fraud or intentional misconduct, and nothing in these terms limits responsibility that can't legally be limited, or rights you have under consumer protection law.
Claims about your work
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you put into ALDAS, your quotes or work for your customers, or your breaking these terms or the law, you'll cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Ending things
You can stop using ALDAS anytime, and delete your account and everything in it with Jobs › Delete my account in the app, or by emailing us. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or end ALDAS altogether with at least 30 days' notice. Whenever we close an account, except for serious misuse, you'll have 30 days to download your work first. After that we delete it as our Privacy policy describes. If we end ALDAS for everyone, we'll refund any prepaid fees for time you won't get.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as ALDAS grows. For important changes, we'll email you or show a notice in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you don't agree, you can close your account before the change takes effect, and we'll refund any prepaid fees for the time after that date.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If something goes wrong, please email us first so we can try to sort it out. If we can't, the courts of British Columbia decide, and either of us may use the Civil Resolution Tribunal for claims within its limits.
The fine print
- Whole agreement. These terms are the whole agreement between us about ALDAS.
- Where ALDAS is offered. ALDAS is offered in English to businesses in Canada outside Quebec for now. We'll update these terms before we offer it in Quebec.
- If part is invalid. If a court finds part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- Transfers. You can't transfer your account without our permission. We can transfer these terms to a business that takes over ALDAS, and we'll tell you if that happens.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Things outside our control. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events we can't reasonably control, like internet or power outages, provider failures, fires, floods or government action.
- Notices. We'll send notices to the email on your account. Send yours to [email protected].
- What lasts. The parts about your work, your customers' information, no guarantees, limits on our responsibility, claims about your work, and law and disputes keep applying after your account closes.
